MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris and other local leaders want a judge to issue a temporary injunction forcing the National Guard out of Memphis, at least for the time being. Attorneys for Governor Bill Lee and other state officials say that will cost around $8 million that was already committed to the Memphis Safe Task Force. In a new filing, the state says the cost of a wrongful injunction could cost nearly $7 million in unpaid balances on existing contracts. It also says a contract for vehicles has a balance of nearly $560,000, and no clause for early termination.
