CAMAS — For the third year in a row, no local football team’s season has gone farther than Seton Catholic’s.
The Cougars ensured that Saturday with a 14-7 win over Trico League rival La Center in the first round of the Class 1A state playoffs.
That win at Doc Harris Stadium means Seton Catholic (9-2) is the only team from Southwest Washington that will play in next weekend’s state quarterfinals.
The No. 8 seed Cougars will travel to top-seed Royal, which beat Seton in last year’s state title game and the 2023 state semifinals.
After dropping their season opener to Columbia River and a Week 4 loss to Banks (Ore.), the Cougars are now riding a seven-game winning streak.
