The Chandigarh Police have registered an FIR against unidentified students and outsiders for allegedly attacking police personnel and violating prohibitory orders while forcing their way into the Panjab University (PU) campus by breaking and scaling Gate No. 1 on November 10.

The FIR was registered on November 13 on the complaint of Sub-Inspector Partibha of the Sector 31 police station, who stated that she had been deployed at Gate No. 1 in view of a call for gathering by students from Punjab, Panjab University, and several organisations over the demand for announcing PU Senate polls.

She added that Inspector Rohit Kumar (SHO, PS-17), Inspector Satnam (SHO, Industrial Area), Inspector Asha Sharma (women police station), along with DSP SPS Sondhi, were supervising police deployment.
