Following yet another fourth-quarter collapse, Giants management had finally decided to make a move.
On Monday afternoon, the Giants fired head coach Brian Daboll, relieving him of his duties less than 24 hours after blowing a 10-point lead against the Chicago Bears with less than four minutes left in regulation.
The team named offensive coordinator Mike Kafka as interim head coach for the remainder of the season.
The 38-year-old Kafka will guide the team through the final seven games with essentially no shot of making the playoffs amid a third consecutive season in which the franchise started out the year 2-8.
