Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday emphasised that he remains opposed to a Palestinian state after protests by far-right coalition allies against the US-brokered deal supporting pathway to Palestinian independence.

Earlier, Israel’s key ally the United States and many Muslim-majority nations had endorsed a draft UN resolution backing President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan stating that the process offered a route to Palestinian statehood.

A 15-member UN Security Council started discussions on November 7 on the draft mandating Trump’s proposal for a “Board of Peace" transitional administration in Gaza to address issues including post-war reconstruction and economic recovery.
