( NewsNation ) — Immigration officials have arrived in Charlotte, North Carolina, as part of what the Department of Homeland Security is dubbing “Operation Charlotte’s Web.”

This is the latest city to unwillingly receive federal agents in President Donald Trump’s illegal immigration crackdown.

The federal government hasn’t provided a full explanation for why this began or how many people have been detained, but DHS blamed the operation in Democratic-led Charlotte on state officials, saying illegal immigrants fled there because of sanctuary policies they believed would protect them.
