It’s not surprising considering it upset the No. 1 seed in the WPIAL Class 4A playoffs and won its record 21st title that Aliquippa is back on top of the rankings this week.
It’s also not a surprise Laurel moved to No. 2 in Class 1A after ending Fort Cherry’s 40-game winning streak against WPIAL teams with an upset of the top-seeded Rangers in the semifinals.
But with the WPIAL playoffs set to close Saturday at Acrisure Stadium and with teams already entering the PIAA tournament, the interesting changes are in the state rankings.
There were several key changes in Class 2A, as Troy was upset by Southern Columbia in the District 4 championship game; Schuylkill Haven was knocked from the ranks of the unbeaten and knocked out of the District 11 finals by Williams Valley; and Richland upset
