At least 13 people were injured, two critically, after a car crashed into the crowd during a demolition derby event in southeastern Australia. The car was taking part in the race in Walcha on Saturday night when it drove through a fence and hit the grandstand, according to a statement by the New South Wales police.
Demolition derby is a type of motorsport where drivers ram their vehicles into one another. The race was part of annual Walcha Motorcycle Rally.
Northern Tablelands MP Brendan Moylan said that nine people remained in hospital and “all are now recovering" in a social media post on Sunday.
Police said those injured were ranged between 20 to 75 years of age but one person who was injured critically was a 54-year-old man.
