A 28-year-old man died on Route 78 when the 26-year-old driver of the vehicle lost control and crashed overnight, authorities said.
An Elizabeth man was heading east when he lost control of the Honda he was navigating a curve on exit ramp 57 in Newark, and struck a concrete barrier at approximately 2:20 a.m., New Jersey State Police Tpr. II Christopher Postorino said.
His front seat passenger, Anthony D. Thomas, of Plainfield, was killed. The driver was hospitalized with serious injuries, Postorino said.
The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information is available.
