Smoke was seen billowing over Manchester city centre after a dramatic car fire erupted on Saturday night (November 15).

Emergency crews were called to the huge vehicle blaze on Chapel Street, on the border of Salford and Manchester at around 7.30pm.

The car, parked in a roadside bay, became engulfed by flames. Plumes of thick black smoke were sent billowing into the air. Fire crews alongside police raced to the scene.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed they were in attendance to close the road and manage traffic while fire crews responded.
