After his dismissal from the Giants , Brian Daboll has emerged as a candidate for a top college football opening.

According to Bruce Feldman of The Athletic , Daboll’s name has surfaced as a “wild card in the mix” for the open head coaching position at Penn State.

“We’ve heard some former NFL players with strong ties to Penn State have pushed for Daboll to get in the mix,” Feldman wrote.

Penn State is looking for a new coach after firing James Franklin last month following a loss to Northwestern that dropped the team to 3-3. They had entered the season ranked No. 2 in the country.

Other candidates for the job include Georgia Tech head coach Brent Key, James Madison head coach Bob Chesney, Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz, Oregon offensive coordinator Will Stein and Ohio State offe
