OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A man is dead after he was hit by a vehicle in the downtown Omaha area early Sunday.
The crash happened in the area of 26th and Douglas streets shortly before 1:15 a.m. Sunday, according to a release from the Omaha Police Department.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 29-year-old man and took him to the hospital. There, he was pronounced dead from critical injuries sustained in the crash.
When police spoke with witnesses, they said the man was walking in the middle of the street right before the incident. After two cars nearly avoided colliding with the man, a truck hit him.
Witnesses say the truck then continued eastbound. According to the release, OPD found the truck — but not the driver.
