PITTSBURGH —

An investigation is underway after a Pittsburgh police cruiser was involved in a crash on Saturday.

Pittsburgh Public Safety officials said a Zone 5 police unit was involved in a crash at the intersection of East Liberty Boulevard & North Highland while responding to back-up officers during a traffic stop. Advertisement

Officials said medics evaluated a woman who was inside the stopped vehicle. She was not injured.

Two officers inside the cruiser were not hurt; however, the officer behind the wheel was taken to the hospital to undergo drug and alcohol testing per department protocol.

An investigation is underway.
