The NFL played its first ever international game in Madrid, Spain on Sunday.

The Bernabéu - home of soccer juggernauts Real Madrid - hosted the NFL matchup between the Miami Dolphins and the Washington Commanders .

It was the Fins who came away with a 16-13 victory after an overtime interception thrown by Commanders quarterback Marcus Mariota led to the Dolphins' winning field goal kicked by Riley Patterson.

But in an affair which lacked a particular spark from either offense, with Tua Tagovailoa and Mariota at the helm for their respective teams, it was the referees which stole the show.

There were multiple questionable calls, but perhaps none bigger than a penalty flag being thrown for pass interference against the Dolphins defense in the second quarter.
