After years of knocking on the door, finally Montclair Kimberley announced its presence on the state level this year.
The Cougars have been a Top 20 team wire-to-wire and a Top 10 team for much of the season, including coming into Sunday’s Non-Public B state final at Franklin and showed why in emphatic fashion, with a 5-0 win over Ranney for MKA’s first state title since 2012.
Montclair Kimberley struck early in the game after CJ Dike scored less than two minutes into the game to make it 1-0 and the Cougars never looked back.
Gus Rosen then extended MKA’s lead to 2-0 with 21:22 left before Dike netted his second of the game when he buried a header off a corner to make it 3-0 with 5:59 left in the first half.
