ISLE OF WIGHT, Va. — Isle of Wight authorities say they have contained a large brush fire that also set fire to an abandoned structure.

The fire in the area of Bowling Green and Carroll Bridge roads was initially reported just before 12:30 p.m., authorities say.

We’re told no injuries have been reported, but residents were asked to stay away from the area for hours. The cause of the fire is still to be determined.

Multiple agencies responded to the call for help on Sunday, including the Department of Forestry and crews from Suffolk, Surry County, Hampton, Newport News, New Kent County, York County, Powhatan County and many more departments across Hampton Roads.
