DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. (Gray News) - A teacher is accused of sexually assaulting a student who sought help from her for mental health.

Teresa Whalin, 28, was arrested and charged with sexual assault, internet exploitation of a child and stalking.

KMGH reported that a student said they had an inappropriate sexual relationship with Whalin during the 2023-24 school year.

The student was “struggling with mental health issues” and started spending time with Whalin after school in Whalin’s office, according to an arrest affidavit.

Whalin is accused of sexually assaulting the student, and the two shared photos and communicated over Snapchat for about 14 months, according to the affidavit.
