The injury bug is hungry today and Josh Jacobs is the latest victim.

After it already took a chunk out of Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love for a few plays, the Cheeseheads also saw their starting running back depart on Nov. 16.

Jacobs was ruled out of Green Bay's clash with the New York Giants after sustaining a knee injury during the first half of the game.

The Packers were looking to get back on track after a tough loss at home to the Philadelphia Eagles. Now they hope to get out of New Jersey without any more issues.

Here's the latest on Jacobs.

Josh Jacobs injury update

Jacobs will undergo further testing on Monday, but the belief is that he avoided a significant knee injury, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

There is optimism that he will be able to return soon. The news comes on the heels of an earlier report that Jacobs' knee injury isn't believed to be season-ending, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky.

The running back will have some additional tests done on Nov. 17 in Green Bay. Head coach Matt LaFleur addressed the injury after the game, saying there is always concern when a player doesn't finish a game.

“I think anytime a player, especially of his magnitude, but anytime a player doesn’t finish a game, you’re always concerned about the welfare of them," LaFleur said.

Jacobs was ruled out of the Week 11 game against the Giants with a knee injury, the Packers announced.

The running back was previously in the medical tent in the first half, but later returned. He then departed again after a goal line drive that ended with a Packers touchdown.

Emanuel Wilson will remain the Packers' lead back for the remainder of the Nov. 16 game in relief of the injured Jacobs.

Packers RB depth chart

  • Josh Jacobs
  • Emanuel Wilson
  • Chris Brooks

Jacobs is the unquestioned workhorse in Green Bay's backfield, but all hope isn't lost in Week 11 if he can't continue. Wilson and Brooks are capable of handling the job for the remainder of the game.

Wilson figures to handle more of the running downs, while Brooks profiles as the better receiving option for the Packers' offense.
