The Snake Pass is to be closed for a number of hours after a serious crash was reported on Sunday night (November 16).

The A57 was closed by emergency services in both directions due to the collision between A6013 / A57 and Hurst Road.

Derbyshire Police, along with paramedics raced to the scene before the popular country route was blocked off.

The Snake Pass is a hill pass in the Peak District, which is a busy route crossing the Pennines between Glossop and the Ladybower Reservoir, in Ashopton.

A police spokesperson said: "The A57 Snake Pass Bamford, between Snake Inn and Hagg Farm will be closed in both directions due to a serious collision.
