A hole in the wall of Portsmouth's restaurant scene might be getting bigger.
Developer Mark McNabb is seeking city approval to expand Portsmouth’s historic Gilley’s Diner, proposing a rear building addition and the installation of two new food trucks at the 175 Fleet St. property.
The project, filed through McNabb’s company Ralph 1912 LLC, calls for roughly 4,000 square feet of improvements. Plans include Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant bathrooms, additional outdoor seating, new bike racks, upgraded trash facilities, and landscaping along Fleet Street. The upgrades are intended to broaden the diner’s appeal, improve pedestrian flow, and help anchor Newberry Way, the emerging pedestrian corridor behind Congress Street.
