As it’s customary in the early stages of the offseason, you start hearing about all the issues certain players battled through to be there, contributing to what was ultimately a successful playoff run. Kike Hernández is one of the names on the list, as the utility man recently announced he underwent surgery to repair a torn muscle in his left elbow.
According to Hernández, he suffered this injury back in May but played through it, and in doing so for such a lengthy period, the elbow tendon detached from the bone.
This update spells sad news for Puerto Rico fans, as he won’t be able to represent his country during the next World Baseball Classic, which will take place in the spring of 2026. Currently, there is no estimate for Hernández’s return date.
