A dry cold front is crossing Eastern North Carolina today, and while it’s not bringing rain, it is bringing high fire danger . Gusty west to northwest winds and very low humidity, on top of ongoing dry conditions, mean any spark could spread quickly. A Red Flag Warning is in effect for parts of inland ENC and fire danger is elevated elsewhere, so please put off outdoor burning.

Cooler air follows the front. Tonight dips into the upper 30s and 40s, and highs Monday only reach the upper 50s to near 60. Monday night looks to be our coldest of the week, with lows in the low–mid 30s inland and widespread frost, plus a light freeze possible in a few colder spots.
