Ecuadorian drug lord Wilmer Chavarria, also known as 'Pipo', faked his own death before fleeing to Spain years ago - today he was finally captured
One of the world's most wanted drug lords was captured in Spain today years after faking his own death.
Wilmer Chavarria, also known as "Pipo", was finally snared in Malaga in a join operation involving both Ecuadorian and Spanish officials. The Ecuadorian gangster is believed to be the leader of Los Lobos, a drug trafficking organisation with around 8,000 fighters.
Los Lobos were recently designated a terrorist organisation by the United States and have been linked to political assassinations in Ecuador. They are also said to work closely with Mexico's infamous Jalisco New Generation Cartel.
