After chasing perfection, St. Benedict’s capped an undefeated year with its second-straight Non-Public A title.
It wasn’t exactly easy for St. Benedict’s, ranked No. 1 in the NJ.com Top 20, as the Grey Bees had to rally in the second half for a 4-3 win over No. 3 Pingry on Sunday afternoon at Franklin High School.
“It’s just Benedict’s,” St. Benedict’s Bruno Nogareda said. “It’s the way we are. We never give up and we had high expectations for us at the beginning of the season and we did it.”
After Pingry rallied from two goals down to tie the game 3-3 in the 55th minute, Amadou Hann scored the game-winner in the 60th minute to seal the win for St. Benedict’s.
It was the second-straight state title for St. Benedict’s, and sixth overall.
