FRONT ROYAL — In 2024, more than 80,000 dogs and cats were euthanized in Texas.
A new program is helping to save lives -- connecting rescued Texas dogs with veterans from across the country in need of companionship.
Front Royal Realtor Tana Hoffman is helping launch the new program and hopes to connect local veterans with dogs saved through Sauver Des Chiens German Shepherd Dog Rescue (SDC), a Texas-based nonprofit for which she volunteers.
Hoffman adopted Tilt, a German shepherd, from Mesquite, Texas, in 2022, saving him from euthanasia. In January 2024, she brought home Charlie Brown, a street stray she found through SDC.
Since then, Hoffman has been volunteering with the nonprofit rescue organization, whose name is French for “to save the dogs.” Earlier this year, she joined the org
