The Campbell County High School football team came up short in the 4A state title game Saturday in Laramie, losing to Sheridan 17-10. It was the Camels' first appearance in the state championship since 2015, and they fought till the end.
Both teams took more than eight minutes on their opening drives to score. The Broncs struck first, and the Camels answered right back to tie the game on a James Hahn four-yard touchdown rush.
At halftime, Sheridan held a 14-7 lead. In the third quarter, Sheridan muffed a punt to give the ball back to the Camels.
Quarterback Coulter Lang connected with Dravyn Vandom for a touchdown, but it was called back due to an illegal motion, and settled for a Carson Eisheid field goal to make it 14-10. From that point on, the Camels wouldn't reach the end zone agai
