LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
With the holiday season approaching, more than 150 turkeys, Thanksgiving sides, and other staples were handed out Sunday in NuLu, where Louisville native Ollie Hinkle led a community giveaway to help families set their holiday tables.
“We got everything bagged up here. We have a ton of food. So just this year, I just want to kind of piggyback off, you know, what we’re trying to do for years to come,” Hinkle said.
Hinkle traveled from his new home in Miami to organize the event at Cherry Pickin’ Goods. Although distribution began at 11 a.m., more than 20 people were lined up by 9 a.m. In all, the team handed out more than $4,500 worth of food, loading meals into cars to ensure families had what they needed.
