DUBLIN, Ga. — Dublin City Schools plans to adopt a new millage rate that is 3.9% above the rollback rate, but must hold three public hearings before finalizing it.

This comes after the school system has been grappling with financial struggles .

A message on their website notifies their intention to raise the millage rate for 2025 property taxes.

They said that "The budget for Dublin City Schools Board of Education requires a millage rate higher than the rollback millage rate."

The rollback millage rate is made by Georgia law so that property taxes do not increase as property values increase.

The school system wants to choose a millage rate that is almost 4% higher than the rollback rate.
