A 14-year-old died Sunday following what investigators say was a "high-speed crash" in Vanderburgh County.
The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office said four others were injured in the single-car wreck, which was reported at 2:28 p.m. in the 1900 block of Orchard Road.
All five of the people in the vehicle were taken to local hospitals and the 14-year-old, whose identity will be released at a later time by the Vanderburgh County Coroner's Office, was pronounced dead.
The sheriff's office, in a news release, said the vehicle − an SUV − was eastbound on Orchard Road when it "crested a hill, became airborne for approximately 50 feet, struck a tree and eventually came to rest in the roadway."
