EDGERTON, Wis. (WKOW) — Lakeside Fire-Rescue and Edgerton Police responded to a house fire Saturday evening after a passerby reported flames coming from a home on West Fulton Street.

Crews were dispatched around 8:14 p.m and arrived on scene in under five minutes. Firefighters found flames coming through the roof at the back of the two-story house.

No one was home when the fire started. Crews brought the fire under control in about 23 minutes, though flames had spread through multiple areas of the home and attic.

The residents had left the home around 5 p.m., and investigators believe the fire began sometime after 7 p.m. in the kitchen. The cause remains under investigation but is not considered suspicious. Officials said it may have been started by a family pet.
