PLANO, Texas — Plano Police say a man armed with a hammer attacked a female jogger Thursday afternoon in Bob Woodruff Park. A suspect is now in custody, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is involved in the case, too.

According to the Plano Police Department, officers responded to an assault call at Bob Woodruff Park in the 2300 block of Shiloh Road around 5 p.m. Police said a woman had been jogging in the park when a man attacked, striking her with a hammer multiple times.

Police say the victim was able to fight off the attacker and he fled on foot. Officers arrested a suspect, later identified as Sergio Noe De Nova Duarte, 17, of Plano. He faces a charge of aggravated kidnapping bodily injury, a first-degree felony, and is being held at the Collin County Detention facility,
