Bangladesh’s International Crimes Tribunal will on Monday issue its judgment in the high-profile case involving former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, who is being tried without being present in court. She is accused of committing crimes against humanity during last year’s massive student-driven movement that ultimately brought down her Awami League government.
The tribunal is expected to convene at 11 am. Along with Hasina, the court will also rule on two senior members of her former administration, ex–home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and former police chief Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun. Prosecutors have urged the tribunal to impose the death penalty on all three.
