COVINGTON, Ky. (WXIX) - A Covington community gathered Sunday night to honor Randy Helton, who was killed in a house explosion Friday morning on Garrard Street.
The explosion also sent Helton’s sister to the hospital, where she remains.
“He was over every day at my house, raking the yard, decorating, taking my garbage cans in and out. Constantly,” said neighbor Debbie Connell.
Community remembers helping hand
Neighbors and family described Helton as a man who never met a stranger and would lend a helping hand to anyone he met. They gathered outside of what was their home Sunday night, sharing memories and honoring their friend.
“He was a child at heart and watched nothing but cartoons. The stuffed animals and stuff let people know who he was,” said Chyrell Hartsock.
