Dr Sivaranjani Santosh, a paediatrician, who led an 8-year struggle against the banning of fake ORS, recently cautioned against following fake or “so-called dermatologists” on social media and applying random creams or steroids, whose withdrawal can even push one into a coma.

“I attended a conference yesterday, and I came to know that there are 18,000 qualified dermatologists in the country, but on social media, there are two million so-called dermatologists. When you follow somebody on social media , make sure you are following a qualified person,” she said in a post on Instagram.

She continued, “Do not apply all these creams without any label or information about the composition. Many of them have mercury, retinoids, or steroids, which can affect the growing fetus in pregnant women
