Kyle Jorgensen and Brandon Rechsteiner each scored 15 points to lead Colorado State to its fourth straight win to begin the season, an 80-67 victory over Loyola Marymount on Sunday in Chicago.
Despite their lowest-scoring output of the season, the Rams’ defense held the Ramblers to only 21 first-half points. CSU went into the contest averaging 96 points per game.
With 7:32 remaining in the first half, CSU led 17-15. The Rams then closed the opening period with a 16-6 run to take a 33-21 lead into halftime.
CSU’s largest lead of the first 20 minutes was 15 points, 32-17, after a 3-pointer by Jorgensen with 1:42 remaining before the break. The Ramblers, meanwhile, went without a field goal for the final seven and half minutes of the first half.
