Snow has been forecast for vast regions of the UK this week, as temperatures drop to a freezing -10C for northern parts of Britain, while the Met Office has warned of wintry hazards

There could be "widespread ice and snow" in the UK this week, just days after Britain was hit by major flooding.

The snow could arrive as early as today, but was expected to pick up pace over the next few days, according to British Weather Services' senior meteorologist Jim Dale. At the same time, Britain was forecast a mega Arctic blast, as the mercury could drop to as low as -10C.

Most of the snow was expected to fall in Scotland , but it could creep into northern England by the end of the week. As much as 7cm of snow was forecast to fall in Edinburgh in just three hours on Tuesday morning. READ MORE
