Victorian Opposition Leader Brad Battin could face a leadership challenge as soon as Tuesday morning.

A delegation of MPs visited Mr Battin on Monday afternoon to inform him that he'd lost the support of the party room.

The delegation included members from across competing factions.

It's understood shadow treasurer Jess Wilson will nominate as leader when the party meets tomorrow morning.

It comes just weeks after the opposition leader promoted Ms Wilson to a new role as part of a shadow cabinet shake-up in October, dubbing it a "fresh start".

A successful challenge would give the party its third leader in less than 12 months.
