No. 2 Purdue rolls past Akron with Matt Painter picking up milestone win

No. 2 Purdue rolled past Akron 97-79 on Sunday night, delivering head coach Matt Painter his 500th career victory.

Painter is currently in his 20th year with the Boilermakers with a 500-225 record, including his previous stop at Southern Illinois. He's still 37 wins shy of matching Gene Keady mark of 512 to become Purdue's all-time winningest coach.

Trey Kaufman-Renn had 17 points and 15 rebounds, and Oscar Cluff added 14 points and 14 boards in the victory.

Braden Smith and Fletcher Loyer added 16 points apiece for Purdue. Smith added 10 assists despite a 4-of-12 shooting night, while Omer Mayer chipped in 14 points off the bench, including nine in the first half.
