The Gilbert Town Council has approved zoning and land-use changes for two major projects.
Approval of Willowbrook, a 91-home community, and Aura San Tan, a 14-acre mixed-use development followed months of public debate and revisions.
Both developments returned to council for a second public hearing last month after they were delayed earlier this year amid concerns by council members and residents.
Aura San Tan
The council voted 5–2 to approve Aura San Tan, which will transform 14.24 acres of vacant land at the southeast corner of Val Vista Drive and Pecos Road into a mixed-use community featuring apartments and office space.
Vice Mayor Bobbi Buchli and Councilman Jim Torgeson voted against it.
