Bangladesh’s International Crimes Tribunal (ICT-1) sentenced former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to death in absentia , finding her guilty of crimes against humanity in connection with the brutal crackdown on the 2024 student-led uprising. Her former Home Minister, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, also received a death sentence, while ex-Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, who turned state’s witness, was spared the noose and given a prison term.
The three-member tribunal, chaired by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder, issued a comprehensive 453-page judgment after months of testimony, video evidence, intercepted communications, and other documentation.
