A major breakthrough has emerged in the investigation into the deadly Red Fort blast, with sources now suspecting that Jaish-linked suicide bomber Dr Umar Mohammad may have acted as a "shoe bomber" when he triggered the explosion that killed 12 people and injured several others.
According to sources, fresh forensic and material evidence recovered from the blast site has shifted the focus sharply onto a shoe found inside Umar's i20 car.
Investigators recovered the shoe from beneath the driver's seat, near the right front tyre of the vehicle. Inside it, they found a metal-like substance that, based on the probe so far, is believed to have been used to activate the detonation.
