A five-year-old boy tragically lost his life after falling from the 22nd floor of a high-rise building in Gurugram on Saturday evening. The incident occurred at the Pioneer Presidia Society in Sector 62 around 5.30 PM. The boy, identified as Rudra Tej Singh, was playing with a nanny when he accidentally got locked inside the apartment.
According to police reports, Rudra and his nanny returned home after playing outside. As they exited the lift, Rudra ran ahead and inadvertently caused the main door, which had an auto-lock system, to shut behind him. The nanny was unable to enter the flat, leaving Rudra alone inside.
In a bid to seek help, Rudra went to the balcony and climbed onto a clothes-drying rack. Unfortunately, he lost his balance and fell from the 22nd floor. Residents of the society quickly rushed him to Maringo Asia Hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.
At the time of the incident, Rudra's parents, Prakash Chandra, a builder, and his mother, a doctor, were not at home. The police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fall, which is currently being treated as an accident. The child's body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
This tragic event has raised serious concerns about child safety in high-rise apartments. The management of the society has stated that they will review and enhance safety measures to prevent such incidents in the future. Ajay Bir Singh, the SHO of Sector 65 police station, confirmed that a team was dispatched to the site immediately after the incident was reported, and a formal report has been registered.
