Five Vermont communities have been chosen for the second round of the Village Trust Initiative, a program supporting rural revitalization projects, according to an announcement from the Preservation Trust of Vermont.
The initiative, now in its second year, is a partnership between the trust, Vermont Council on Rural Development and Vermont Community Foundation. It provides planning support, technical assistance and significant capital investment to help communities restore historic buildings and gathering spaces.
Communities selected for the second cohort
Belvidere – Multi-use community hub in former school (Lamoille)
New Haven – Historic society and community space in former train depot (Addison)
Orwell – General store and community hub (Addison)
Rupert – General store and community
