A number of Perth trains have been cancelled, causing delays for passengers at peak travel time, after a train came off the tracks at Bayswater Station.

The Public Transport Authority confirmed services on the airport, Ellenbrook, Midland and Fremantle Lines have been disrupted.

A spokesperson for the authority said the incident happened on Monday afternoon when two wheel undercarriages from a railcar had "partially come off the tracks" after departing at a low speed from Bayswater Station.

The spokesperson said all passengers were safely evacuated and the authority is investigating the cause of the incident.

A two-car train could be seen broken down on the line just south of Bayswater station while several Transperth workers inspected the track and carriages.
