South Australian disability provider Bedford has been saved from financial collapse, securing the jobs of more than 1000 disability workers.

The state and federal governments today announced the Disability Trust has bought the business after intense negotiations and months of uncertainty.

"We will be working with the community to ensure we have a really strong and vibrant Bedford for many decades to come," a company spokesperson said.

As part of the agreement, the state government will transfer its 60 per cent ownership of the land at Panorama, in Adelaide, valued at $6 million, to the new owner.

"Every single employee here at Bedford employee is going to keep their job," Premier Peter Malinauskas said.
