Jammu, Nov 17: A major accident was averted on Monday after a truck caught fire inside an under-construction tunnel of the Kwar Hydroelectric Project on the Chenab river in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, officials said.

The blaze erupted when a dumper truck suddenly went up in flames while labourers were engaged in tunnelling work at the Padyarna site. Thick smoke filled the tunnel, prompting an immediate rescue response from the Fire and Emergency Services Department and project authorities.

All workers present inside the tunnel were evacuated safely, officials confirmed, adding that there was no loss of life or serious injury in the incident.
