Air India will restart its direct flights between Delhi and Shanghai from 1 February 2026, restoring a major international route that has remained suspended for nearly six years. The decision marks the airline’s return to mainland China after services were halted in early 2020 due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The carrier, now under the Tata Group, had withdrawn its Shanghai operations at a time when it was still state-owned and facing considerable financial strain.

The flights will be deployed using Air India’s Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, which offer 18 fully flat beds in Business
