BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Lung Cancer Awareness Month is observed in November. Whether it’s the risk factors, prevention, screening, or symptoms, understanding these items is critical.
The American Cancer Society says lung cancer is the second most common cancer and the leading cause of cancer death in the United States.
Risk factors are led by smoking tobacco. Cigarettes, cigars, and pipes, even breathing secondhand smoke, can all be contributors to lung cancer.
The American Cancer Society suggests yearly screenings for anyone ages 50 to 80.
Not all lung cancers can be prevented, however, considering preventative measures is important. This includes avoiding tobacco products, staying away from secondhand smoke, avoiding or limiting exposure to cancer-causing chemicals, and following
