PDP president and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti's remark on the Red Fort car blast has stirred up a political storm with the Bharatiya Janata Party accusing her of defending terrorists.

Mufti, while launching a sharp attack on the Centre on Sunday, said the car blast in Delhi reflected a deepening sense of insecurity across the country and a failure of the government's policies in Jammu & Kashmir.

"You (Central government) told the world that everything is alright in Kashmir, but the troubles of Kashmir echoed right in front of the Red Fort," Mufti said, while addressing the party's Working Group meeting in Srinagar.
