AIUDF President and former MP Badaruddin Ajmal, on November 17, signalled a possible electoral understanding with AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, saying both leaders were in constant touch and “everything is possible” ahead of the upcoming Assam elections.

Ajmal said that the two “brothers” may fight together this time, adding that earlier the party had won four seats, but now it aims for “forty”.

After months of poor health and limited political activity, Ajmal declared that he is ready to return to the frontline.

He said the political climate was ripe for a contest and that the AIUDF intends to field candidates in around 35 constituencies, asserting that the party “will not allow the BJP to benefit”.
